Interested in meeting some Alberta artists? Then come hang out in Black Diamond during Alberta Art Days. Take in a “Sound of Wings” group show and artists’ reception at the Bluerock Gallery and stop in to Maryanne’s Eden, where you can meet and see long-time resident artist, Maryanne Jespersen at work in her studio gallery. Our Galleries are open Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Saturday, October 1st from 10 am – 3 pm, stop by the “ Pumpkin Patch Tea and Quilt Show” at the Griffith Memorial Centre, 122 Government Road South in Black Diamond. Come for tea and view beautiful local made quilts. Some quilts will be available for sale.
Like Flowers or want to celebrate Alberta Art Days with the kids? Take in “Flower Power” at the Sheep River Community Library, 129 Main Street N.E. in Turner Valley on Saturday, Oct 1st. This is an exhibition of quilts, paintings, and photos representing flowers as well as demonstrations and workshops for adults and children.

The Town of Turner Valley will be hosting the annual Diamond Valley Community – Parade of Garage Sales on Saturday, October 1, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. within the towns of Turner Valley and Black Diamond. The 2011 event will be better than ever. Building on last year’s incredible turnout, we are expecting more people to be roaming the streets of Turner Valley and Black Diamond looking for bargains. High River Gift of Music Society is delighted to welcome back the charismatic Heidelberg Youth Chamber Orchestra. Under the leadership of internationally renowned conductor, Thomas Kalb, these outstanding talented young musicians make up one of the best chamber ensembles in Europe. The program for High River includes works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Felix Mendelssohn, and the premiere of a recently discovered 19th century manuscript by French romantic composer Louis Gouvy. Experience the pure magic of music with these extraordinary young musicians.

On Friday through Sunday, June 24-26, Vales Greenhouse in Black Diamond plays host to a fabulous weekend of art featuring 40 local artist and their work, ranging from wearable fabrics and silver jewelery to paintings, pottery and woodworking. The event takes place in the naturally beautiful venue all three days from 9:00am – 5:00pm. On Saturday, the 25th, meet the artists personally at the artist reception, held from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
